Jalisco and Zacatecas, Mexico War

The Attorney General, Arturo Nahle Garcia, said that the violence was the results of a group of men calling themselves Carteles Unidos (United Cartels), who have recently made a presence in the region, and it appears that this criminal organization is fighting Los Zetas for control of the plaza.

At least six trucks were left abandoned near the edge of a dam which is located near the center of the town, and the state attorney general said that an investigation is in the process to find out what happened and to determine the identification of the dead sicarios.

The Secretary of Public Security, General Jesus Pinto Ortiz, and the director of the State Preventive Police, General Victor Manuel Bosque, were escorted by a significant number of troops from the state Preventive Police and the Mexican military conducted patrols around the streets of the town to reassure the residents that everything was in order.

General Jesus Pinto Ortiz confirmed that the situation was now under control, and it is so now up to the Attorney General to finish their work in order to determine the origins of the suspects that were killed.

He further indicated that there is a joint operation in place with the police in Jalisco to attempt to locate the suspects that fled in the direction of the municipality of Chimaltitán, Jalisco.

After the confrontation between the Zetas and the Carteles Unidos in Florencia de Benito Juarez, Zacatecas, the Mexican Army began operations throughout the state and in Jalisco.

In the municipality of Santa María de los Ángeles, Jalisco they located several vehicles said to have been used in recent battles, including what appears to be a compact version of the 2010 Zeta Monstruo.

The compact steel armored Monster 2010 has a top speed of 80 kph and presented the traditional side hatches as well as a modernized gun turret design. Although the vehicle was found in Jalisco, it is said to have been made in Tamaulipas and transported to Zacatecas were it was donated to a local Zeta cell. Reports indicate that the 2010 compact version of was the prototype for the 2011 design.

The vehicle, which could hold up to ten passengers, has four wheel drive, a tow hitch for transport, armor covered wheels, a stereo system, and satellite communication equipment.

Varela Asking for Help for Corabastos

Greater police presence is needed for the agricultural distribution company Corabastos, according to the general manager, after being named by an NGO on Monday as being the main entry point forBogota's drugs.

Hector William Varela, who manages Colombia's largest wholesale distributor Corabastos, said that there are only 38 police officers located at the entire company and asked for greater support from police, in an El Espectador interview published Tuesday.

Varela said "There are 270 private security guards but they cannot perform searches or confiscate goods, nor make arrests."

According to Caracol Radio, Corabastos is on a 260 square mile site, providing the workplace for 6,500 vendors and receiving 20,000 visitors daily.

The general manager, however, also added that during his tenure he has not seen evidence of criminal activity such as money laundering, as well as drugs and arms trafficking, that was alleged inthe Bogota criminality study released by NGO Nuevo Arco Iris Monday.

Varela, who has been at the helm of Corabastos for one year, said any trafficking taking place at his company is the fault of the failings of the National Police. "If what the report says is true, it means that trucks are going along the roads of this country without any sort of control."

He did however stress the support received from Director of Bogota's Metropolitan Police General Francisco Patiño and Director of National Police General Oscar Naranjo.

General Naranjo offered a $27,000 (COP50 million) reward to anyone who can help stop the criminal gangs who operate on the premises of the wholesaler.

Texas Terrorists Exposed

A Saudi national arrested in Texas for allegedly attempting to build and use a weapon of mass destruction described his plan to wage “jihad” and target Americans in blog postings and a personal journal, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, 20, of Lubbock, allegedly used the internet to identify targets and to conduct research on how to build an improvised explosive device (IED) using chemical ingredients. He has been charged with attempting to use of a weapon of mass destruction.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, federal agents learned of Aldawsari’s plot in February 2011 when a chemical supplier in North Carolina reported his suspicious attempt to purchase concentrated phenol. Agents were then able to trace Aldawsari’s other online purchases of concentrated nitric and sulfuric acids, which are typically used to make an explosive known as TNP (trinitrophenol).

The FBI later found the chemicals at Aldawsari’s residence along with a journal allegedly indicating that he was inspired by Osama Bin Laden and had been planning to commit a terrorist attack. In one journal entry described by the DOJ, Aldawsari described the financial scholarship he used to come to the U.S. as “tremendously” helpful “in providing me with the support I need for Jihad.” The entry goes on to say, “And now, after mastering the English language, learning how to build explosives and continuous planning to target the infidel Americans, it is time for Jihad.”

In another entry described by the DOJ, Aldawsari listed a “synopsis of important steps” described as “obtaining a forged U.S. birth certificate; renting a car; using different driver’s licenses for each car rented; putting bombs in cars and taking them to different places during rush hour; and leaving the city for a safe place.”

The affidavit alleges that Aldawsari sent himself emails with titles like “NICE TARGETS” in which he listed hydroelectric dams in California and Coloradoand nuclear power plants. Other documents he sent to himself contained the names and home addresses of three members of the military that served in at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. An email titled “Tyrant’s House” included theDallas home address for former President George W. Bush.

Aldawsari allegedly created a blog called FromFarAway90, where he wrote in English and Arabic about college life in America, romance, his efforts to maintain his religious identity, and his perceptions of Americans, which included some positive impressions. Since March 2010, a handful of his posts have included extremist messages. On March 11, 2010, he wrote “grant me martyrdom for Your sake and make jihad easy for me.”

A month later, he wrote in Arabic, “Muslims can not enjoy a carefree life and peace when in front of them and behind them their lands and dignities are being desecrated with the help of the Arab traitors and other Zionist rulers inside the Muslim world…in the lands of Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan and Chechnya [there can be] no peace without war and violence with steadfastness and determination to win…” His Facebook lists “STOPIsrael’s War Crimes in Gaza” as one of his interests.

Aldawsari, who was arrested by Federal agents in Lubbock on February 23, had been living in Texas and was enrolled at South Plains College. He previously attended Texas Tech University and studied at an English language center at Vanderbilt University. He arrived in the U.S. in 2008 on a student visa.

A similar plot in Dallas was foiled by law enforcement in September 2009. At that time, Jordanian national Hosam Maher Husein Smadi, who overstayed his student visa, was arrested for attempting to bomb a 60-story glass office tower in Dallas with a weapon of mass destruction. He was sentenced to 24 years in prison in October 2010.

Several other foreign nationals who have overstayed their student visa have been convicted on terror charges in the U.S., including Adnan Mizra, a Pakistani national who was convicted in Houston for conspiring to join the Taliban and fight against U.S. forces.

Aldawsari faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction

They have been laying it low for 2 years now, the Sinaloa Cartel basically robbed a lot of it's territory but now there is a kind of truce between them. Last I heard Sinaloa and La Familia pay "quota" or "tax" to the Arellano Felix Cartel/Tijuana Cartel in order to pass drug thru their city/border.
